For this certification level you don’t necessarily need any previous hands-on experience with Google Cloud. For the associate level cerftifications is recommended to have at least 6 months of experience with building on Google Cloud. This level is focused on the fundamental skills of deploying, monitoring, and maintaining projects on Google Cloud. 

The associate level is a good starting point, if you are new to cloud and want to eventually take the professional level certification exams. 

Cloud Engineer certification exam assesses your ability to set up a cloud solution environment, plan and configure a cloud solution, deploy and implement a cloud solution, ensure successful operation of a cloud solution and configure access and security.

The Professional level certification requires preferably at least 3 years industry experience, including at least 1 year on Google Cloud. Professional certifications inlcude key technical job functions and assess advanced skills in design, implementation, and management.

Cloud Developer certification proves that you are able to design highly scalable, available and reliable cloud-native applications, build and test applications, deploy applications, integrate Google Cloud services and manage application performance monitoring 

Cloud DevOps Engineer certification proves that you are capable of being responsible for efficient development operations that can balance service reliability and delivery speed. 

Cloud Network Engineer certification exam assesses your ability to implement and manage network architectures in Google Cloud.

Collaboration Engineer certification exam assesses your ability to transform business objectives into tangible configurations, policies, and security practices as they relate to users, content, and integrations.
